I have to give it to Microsoft on this one - this is a relatively amusing marketing gimmick. The following letter turned up in my post today:

Yep - it's supposedly from me, in the future. How nice of me! I especially liked the details such as the €12 King Charles stamp :-) I soon start questioning the validity of this letter, however, as within six years it would appear I have become a Microsoft evangelist:

A few years ago I found out a secret that put us ahead of the competition. It helped us get that client you've always wanted and gave us the opportunity to cross sell Vista and a whole host of other products. And, best of all, we've still got them. But please don't switch off when I tell you that the secret is... Volume Licencing!

Bah. Humbug! And the postscript that tells me to trust my instincts in next year's Grand National? Well that's just asking for trouble, isn't it?
